Did you go to the Thanksgiving Luch? I did and it was great! I had on my plate: turkey and gravy, honey glazed ham, sweet potato casserole, a slice of baked potato pizza, some broccoli, some stuffed mirliton, and a chocolate nut brownie. I must say, the turkey and ham were both delicious. I love the sweet and salty taste of ham in the afternoon. The sweet potato casserole was just like Mama’s homemade sweet potato casserole and nothing is better than Mama’s! Did some of you think the baked potato pizza was weird? Well, guys, I thought it was too, but after trying it, I truly liked it. The bacon, cheese, and potato strips blended really well to create a unique, but delicious slice of pizza. Got to spice it up every now and then, right? Going to a bit of a more traditional Thanksgiving dish, the cheese sauce for the broccoli was divine with its creamy goodness. Did you try the stuffed mirliton? I admit, I was a skeptic, but I tried it and it was all right. For dessert I have a shout out to Ms. Sandy in the bakery section, I loved the brownie! It hit the spot for the end of my meal! This was by far one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I have eaten. I enjoyed it and I hope you enjoyed yours too!
Some of you might be thinking.. “what the heck is a stuffed mirliton??” Well, mirliton is a pear-shaped vegetable sometimes called a vegetable pear. When stuffed, usually with shrimp or crab meat and other spices and herbs, becomes a New Orleans favorite . . . Stuffed Mirliton! Be sure to try some next time it’s available!
