The Orleans Room is Loyola’s on-campus dining hall. Every day you can find a variety of options that include salads, sandwiches, pizza, comfort foods, vegetarian and gluten free selections, and an ice cream bar—all crafted by artisan chefs. The OR is a mecca of campus life where students are admitted in by swiping their student ID and are exposed to an all-you-can-eat style buffet.

A challenge that many dinning halls face is day-to-day monotony, which can lead students to search for other dining options; however, the OR does not succumb to this routine by adding programs to it’s calendar of events. In order to keep students engaged and excited about their dinning experience, we have a robust calendar of events that include a farmer’s market, smoothie bars, and cheese day

The farmer’s market is held monthly in the Peace Quad. Through our partnership with Capitol City produce, we sell local and fresh produce, that range from tomatoes and bananas to grapples and blood oranges. Sodexo also hands out samples of gourmet salads made from the ingredients available at the farmer’s market or grilled veggies to taste. Displayed under an oak tree, the farmer’s market gives the Loyola Community a sense of being on a quiet homestead rather than in booming New Orleans.

Another Orleans Room favorite is the lunchtime smoothie bar at the vegetarian station. Vivid purple, orange, and green smoothies are blended using only simple and fresh ingredients like carrots, grapes, and kale. The pop of color and tantalizing flavors brighten up even the most hectic of school days.

One of the most anticipated events in the OR is the monthly cheese day. On this special occasion, the OR becomes a fondue bar, giving students various melted cheeses and dippers like French bread, sweet fruits, and crunchy vegetables. Furthermore, cheese day features exquisite cubed cheeses that pair perfectly with other entrées that can be found throughout lunch.

The Orleans Room acts as a place that allows students to find whatever they are looking for—to expand their pallet with falafel patties or to find something familiar in a slice of pizza. To stay up to date with our calendar of events, make sure to follow us on Facebook!
