Recipes From Home has become one of our favorite traditions. Every year students and families share recipes from the heart. This year was no different, with a total of forty entries it was hard to narrow it down to the top three.
Now it’s your turn Loyola to pick the 2017 winner! This recipe will be featured during our Family Weekend Jazz Brunch, and the winning family will win a flight and hotel accommodations for two in New Orleans to join us and their student!
Voting is easy, comment below by the end of the day Thursday, September 7th to share what recipe you think should win.
1. Vanessa B’s Beulah’s Maryland Crab Cakes – “A favorite recipe passed down by my Grandmother. She grew up in West Virginia, but after she married she moved to the western shore of Maryland. Most of their marriage, the only way they could afford crabmeat was if my grandfather had a chance to go crabbing himself on the Chesapeake Bay.”
2. Macey P’s Pittsburgh Ham Barbecues – “Macey’s maternal side of the family is from Pittsburgh. These sandwiches have been a Pittsburgh tradition for decades (1950s), and are often served with potato salad and pickles at Steeler tailgate parties, family reunions, and friend gatherings. Typically people from outside of Pittsburgh are not familiar with this deliciously sweet, tangy barbecue sandwich… that isn’t actually barbecued! But it is a favorite when we gather at our Indiana home and share our Pittsburg tradition.”
3. Jocelyn P’s Panko Crusted Salmon – “This is my favorite salmon recipe! It reminds me of my grandfather because he would bring home salmon after a day of fishing near the Golden Gate bridge in the ocean by the San Francisco Bay. My sister and I insisted on this recipe every time.”
