Prayer Service for Haiti

Loyola University New Orleans will commemorate last year’s devastating 7.0 earthquake in Haiti with a prayer service on Wednesday, Jan. 12,at 7:30 p.m. in Bobet Hall’s Ignatius Chapel.

Phi Eta Sigma Haitian Benefit Concert

Loyola’s Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society will host a benefit concert entitled “Hope for Haiti” on March 12th at 4:00 pm in the Peace Quad.  Various local bands and Loyola students will perform.  T-shirts for this event will be available for pre-sale soon.  Proceeds will be given to Partners in Health.  Please contact Nicholas Nall at nicholas.nall@gmail.com for further information.

Haitian Dance Class

Riva Precil will teach a Haitian dance class on Sunday, February 21st at 2:00 pm in the Audubon Room of the Danna Student Center.  The class will focus on the beauty of the Haitian culture as expressed through dance, and students do not need any prior dance experience to attend.  Admission is free.

Haiti Benefit Night at the Palms

Loyola’s College Republicans will hold a Haitian benefit at the Palms Bar and Grill on February 24th from 8:00 pm until 1:00 am.  The Palms is providing a DJ to play music for the event, which will aid Dr. Paul Farmer’s organization, Partners in Health.  A minimum donation of $5.00 must be given BEFORE February 24th in order to attend the event.  College Republicans will have a table set up in the Danna Student Center on Febuary 12th, 19th, and 22nd during the window so that students can sign up for this benefit and donate to the Haitian relief efforts.  Students can also contact Mohammad Iqbal at miqbal@loyno.edu or Matthew Armato at mjarmato@loyno.edu to make donations or to request further information.

“Ayiti Cheri” Benefit Concert and Art Performance

A concert and dance performance benefitting Haitian earthquake relief efforts will take place on Friday, February 26 in Loyola’s Roussel Hall. Time is TBD. The event will feature Dr. Jean Montes’ quartet performing a series of classicly arranged Haitian folk songs, Haitian dancing, food, and a Haitian art exhibit.
