Volunteer with “Prepared to Vote” and “Election Protection”

Election Protection (EP) – led by the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law – is the nation’s largest non-partisan voter protection coalition.  Election Protection’s national voter hotlines (866-OUR-VOTE, 888-VE-Y-VOTA & 888-API-VOTE) [1] and Election Day field programs assist voters with problems and guide them throughout the voting process, regardless of their party affiliation.  EP also provides critical legal resources year round, including for early voting, voter registration, election officials and grassroots organizations. Election Protection is a resource for all Americans.

The NAACP Legal Defense Fund’s annual Prepared to Vote efforts are strategic public education campaigns aimed at sustaining and increasing Black political participation in elections. Through the Prepared to Vote campaigns, LDF provides non-partisan election preparedness information leading up to and on Election Day to various partners in target states.

Prepared to Vote/Election Protection in Louisiana: For the November 8th Election in Louisiana, the NAACP LDF and the Lawyers’ Committee will be jointly coordinating voter protection field programs in the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles areas. Field volunteers will respond in-person to problems reported to the hotlines and monitor polling places for issues as they arise during Election Day.

Assistance Needed:  The Lawyers’ Committee and the NAACP LDF seek lawyers, law students, and paralegals to staff the legal field programs in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and Lake Charles on Election Day (November 8th). All volunteers will be asked to sign up for a several-hour shift on Election Day and participate in a 1 ½ hour on-demand (online) training. Guidance and training materials are provided to all volunteers.
