LIFT Legal Incubator Program in Baton Rouge accepting applications until January 18
Are you interested in starting your own solo practice, but not sure if you are ready? What if there was a program that would provide you with the training, mentorship, free resources, and financial support you need to develop a sustainable law firm while you hone your practice and business skills? If you answered yes to the first question, then the LSBA’s newest legal incubator program might be just for you.
Legal Innovators for Tomorrow (LIFT) is an incubator program that helps new attorneys build viable and sustainable solo law firms that serve unmet legal needs. LIFT has partnered with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, Southern University Law Center, LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center, and the American Bar Association’s Center for Innovation to offer two attorneys the opportunity to build solo law firms that will increase legal representation for disaster survivors in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Livingston, and Point Coupee.
Attorneys in the project will learn how to handle successions, heirship property, clear title, and other property-related matters that affect disaster victims. The participants will gain hands-on legal experience through pro bono work, and receive mentorship, free resources, and a $10,000 stipend during the 18 month program beginning in February 2019.
Louisiana licensed attorneys with fewer than six years practice experience who plan to develop or have begun to develop a law practice and are committed to increasing legal representation for community members impacted by disaster are encouraged to apply. The application deadline is Friday, January 18, 2019. Please send your completed applications in ONE pdf file to email@example.com. If you have questions, call Amy Duncan at (504) 619-0148.
