OPD is seeking a full-time Conflict Panel Administrator.
The Orleans Parish Public Defenders Office (OPD) provides holistic, community-based representation for all indigent criminal defendants in Orleans Parish. When OPD cannot assume representation of a defendant due to a legal and/or ethical conflict, the Conflict Administrator works to obtain appropriate and zealous representation for the client consistent with OPD’s values and vision.
The Conflict Administrator works with OPD’s Leadership Team to determine legal conflicts of interest and assign or reassign the case appropriately. Approximately 10-15 % of clients appointed OPD counsel are designated as needing Conflict Counsel. The Conflict Administrator is responsible for ensuring that all designated conflict clients are assigned accountable, efficient, communicative, and effective counsel. Of utmost importance is that the Conflict Administrator maintains its neutrality status as an entity housed under OPD.
