Every weekend in New Orleans is unique, and I’ve never had the same weekend twice. In a city where there are so many food, entertainment and recreational options, the options can be endless.

This past weekend my all-time favorite New Orleans festival, Po-Boy Fest provided me with music, food, and a great chance to spend time with my friends.

Now, if you’ve never had the experience of an authentic New Orleans po-boy, you still have something to live for, and Po-Boy Fest is just the place to experience your first taste of greasy heaven. This festival is held every year on Oak Street in Uptown New Orleans. It features a stage at each end of the street with live bands performing and all the best restaurants set up shop street-side to bless the city with their tasty creations.

The best advice I have for this festival? Pair up with a friend, purchase different po-boys and share each 50-50.
This year the decisions were tough but my friend and I are die-hard shrimp fans so our purchases included a barbeque shrimp and a fried shrimp po-boy. For sides we chose fried crawfish balls, white chocolate bread pudding, a pretzel and a caramel apple. Needless to say, we consumed enough calories for the entire week, but it was well worth it.
Remember, there is no SUBstitute for a real New Orleans po-boy!
