As summer is nearing its end, I am progressively becoming more and more excited for the school year. Not only am I about to embark on my much anticipated senior year, but I am also thrilled for another opportunity to participate in the university ambassador program. This will be my fourth year as a member of this organization, and there is something about this group of loyal Loyola students that keeps me coming back summer after summer.

Best Friends!
As an ambassador I get the unique opportunity to be the first student interaction for many incoming students. Sure, not everyone I give a tour to or meet at major recruiting events ends up choosing Loyola, but at the end of the day I have met many new people and have eased at least a little bit of their anxiety about the huge transition into college that is only natural. And what’s even better is that the students will remember me throughout their time at Loyola if they decide to attend.

President's Open House! Rememeber this?
So what do I do as an ambassador? Thanks for asking! I give campus tours every week, attend college fairs at local high schools, mingle with prospective students and their families at major events such as President’s Open House and audition days, and use social media to connect to prospective students online.
People listen to us...
Being a people person, I really enjoy these opportunities that I would not normally have outside of Ambassadors. I, along with the other ambassadors, am literally the face of Loyola. I am representing and promoting the Loyola name. The skills I develop from Ambassadors can be transferred to any part of my life, especially in the career area. Customer service and public speaking skills are important in any industry, and by working closely with admissions counselors I have greatly expanded upon my list of references.
Welcome to Bobet Hall, home of the Humanities!
So, to quote one of songs that has helped to define the last three years of my life, the Ambassador Program is more than a feeling, it is rewarding and exciting and at times a bit nerve-racking, but I truly believe this organization to be one of the best on campus.
